MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging, improve the appearance of acne scars and rejuvenate aging skin. An initial consultation will be required prior to your first treatment to identify your objectives and suitability for the treatment. A course of treatments is recommended to achieve more effective and significant results at monthly intervals to allow healing to take place and to minimize any adverse affects.

The microneedling pen device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural healing process. Micro-injuries stimulate the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodelling of collagen and elastin.

To optimise the results of your treatment an hylauronic acid pure serum is used during treatment to enhance your skin post needling. After the needling has been performed you will enjoy the pleasure of a comforting mask to suit your skin.

HOW IS MICRONEEDLING
PERFORMED?

Microneedling can be performed using a microneedling Pen, a medical grade, state-of-the-art microneedling tool available only through medical professionals. The treatment typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and number of areas treated and the degree of treatment requested by the client.

Can be used on many body parts. The micro-needling Pen needle depth adjusts from 0.25mm to 2mm, allowing the provider to tailor the treatment to the patient’s skin thickness as well as his or her needs.

Has minimal risk of infections or scarring. It doesn’t remove or damage the epidermis and doesn’t trigger the inflammatory pathway, meaning infections and scarring are unlikely.

DOES MICRONEEDLING HURT?

A topical anaesthetic is applied prior to the procedure. This allows for a comfortable experience for most people. Generally, patients report feeling just a slight vibration of the Pen during the procedure. For most people, the procedure is less painful than having your eyebrows waxed.

Microneedling

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME AFTER PROCEDURE?

There will be redness following microneedling with your skin feeling slightly dry and tight. Healing varies from individuals and may take from 2 days to longer depending on many variables such as UV exposure, poor skincare, hormonal changes, stress, medications and illness.

It is recommended for most patients to receive 1-3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 3-6 sessions at 4-week intervals.
